We are a PRIVATE un-hosted retreat. What this means is that when you book with us, it’s just you and 9 of your friends/customers. The un-hosted style affords you the flexibility of deciding what and when you want to eat. It also means you may design a meal plan that fits your schedule and your needs. In addition, you are able to control your cost. It means your group won’t be served a meal that doesn’t meet their dietary needs or tastes. As a group, you decide if want to cook, dine out or order in delivery! It’s totally up to YOU. You can even decide that you’d like to have a catered meal by one of the area caterers. “So if the retreat is un-hosted, that means it’s a “no frills” kind of experience?” You may be right in thinking that, but you’d be wrong. Just because the owner isn’t there 24 hours a day doesn’t mean you won’t be pampered. Here are just a few of the things we are most proud of:

- Fully adjustable mesh-back rolling chairs in crop room
- Thick, luxurious bath towels
- Three (3) Full Baths
- Large kitchen with almost every tool/appliance you could ever need
- Large Family/Media Room
- Jacuzzi tub in Blue Crush Bathroom
- Private, wooded backyard with pond
- Large private deck off crop room
- Two (2) bookcases to store all of YOUR supplies
- The owner will greet you upon arrival to show you around and answer any questions you may have. We want to make sure you are comfortable and able to spend your time crafting, not figuring out what or where things are!
In addition, we treat you as our GUEST. As such, we would never have a “guest” make or take apart their own bed. When you arrive, your bed is made for you and when you leave, simply pack up. We would never ask you to strip your bed.
We can safely and comfortably accommodate ten (10) guests. We understand that you want to have some privacy at the retreat. That’s why there is only one room with 3 twin beds. The other bedrooms have only one or two beds. For your privacy and comfort, there are NO bunk beds. Sure, we have the room-we could have had more beds in the way of bunks or trundles. But if you’re like the owner, bunk beds were fine at summer camp when you were twelve. But hey, this is a WOMEN’S retreat-NOT summer camp!
Archival Inn is a long term “dream come true” for owner Jane Vander Sloot. Jane has been scrapbooking for over 20 years and also enjoys being a Creative Memories Consultant. As a consultant, she has hosted many crop events over the years and has tried many venues. The first crop she held was with 10 people at a friend’s office! From there, she started having twice yearly crops at a local retirement village, all the while searching for a more suitable location, one where it would be easy to set up and take down and not have to rent tables. A location she could afford and still turn a profit. Her croppers liked being able to crop for multiple days at a time and feedback suggested she find a location where everyone could crop the entire weekend, not just a day or two. After all, setting up and packing up can take some time! So, Jane planned her first retreat weekend in the Spring of 2012 at an area retreat house. However, the location had some issues; multiple steps just to get into the crop area (not good for people with gigantic rolling bags), lack of storage space (for those who take their entire inventory with them!), not enough towels, not enough cookware, etc. Jane had thought many times of opening her own place over the years, but this time she thought, “I can do this and do it better”. So began a journey to find a property! Three buy sell agreements and four months later, she had the perfect location! She spent most everyday in July of 2012 overseeing painting, minor improvements, lawn care and decor to get the place ready for her first set of scrappers in August. The work was exhausting at times but it was a labor of love to bring Archival Inn to fruition.
